01 · READING 読む

Read a story. Tap what you don't know.

  • Short stories at your level, N5 through N1. Easy is five lines, Hard is eight, each one built around a handful of kanji.
  • Tap a highlighted word for its reading, romaji and meaning, and hear it. Tap the あ and the readings appear above every kanji.
  • Read to me reads the story aloud in a recorded voice. Too fast? Slow it to 0.75× or 0.5×.
  • Show English puts the whole story in English under it, line for line. Hide it when you're not stuck.
  • Then a quiz. Three questions on what you just read, in Japanese, with English underneath if you want it.

02 · GAMES 遊ぶ

A game, for the days you don't feel like studying.

  • Card Matching. Drag each card onto its category. Three strikes and you're out.
  • One board against the clock. Clear it and the next round deals a fresh hand. Best score and fastest time are kept per level.
  • Its own difficulty dial, N5 to N1, separate from your study level. The games bring their own words, so every rung is open.
  • A strike teaches. A wrong drop shows the word, its reading, its meaning and where it belonged. Every word has a recorded voice.

03 · SPEAKING 話す

Say it out loud. The phone is listening.

  • Say It. Hear an anime line in a recorded voice, tap the mic and say it back. It's on Today, under Anytime.
  • Graded sound by sound on the phone itself. Nail it, or it's gomi.
  • Three stages of ten lines: Gomi Vol 1 and Vol 2, card-game inspired, and Gomi Vol 3, fighting inspired.
  • Pitch accent on every line and a best score for each stage. Your voice never leaves the phone.

04 · DAILY CARDS 毎日

Ten cards a day. Or five. Or thirty.

  • Plan your week. Seven days of cards that belong together, one theme a day. Words you missed come first, then the most common ones.
  • Pick the size. Anywhere from 5 to 30 cards a day. Ten is the default.
  • Every card carries the word, its reading, the meaning, an example sentence with furigana, and a recorded voice.
  • Knew it? Swipe. Didn't? It goes in the gomi bin. Plans and tests deal it back first, and every right answer knocks it down until it's gone.

05 · KANJI 漢字

See it written. Then write it.

  • Every N5 kanji and every kana has its stroke order, drawn one stroke at a time from the standard KanjiVG data, so you learn the order and the direction, not just the shape.
  • Try writing it. Trace the strokes, or do it from memory.
  • Every stroke is checked as you draw it: where it starts, which way it goes, where it ends, whether the shape is close. In Trace, start at the dot.
  • Hiragana and katakana too, with a recorded voice for every sound.
