I'm Carson Li. I moved to Japan in 2018 and have been failing to learn Japanese ever since.
Why this exists
There are a lot of great apps out there, and plenty of them are better than mine at the one thing they do. I didn't build this to beat any of them. I wanted the things I actually use in one place: a flashcard deck, a bin for the words I keep getting wrong, short stories with readings and a quiz, and a recorded voice for all of it.
None of that is hard to code, and none of it should cost a subscription. So it's free, it runs offline, and it collects nothing.
Money
Free is the plan for as long as I can manage it. Things still cost money: the recorded voice, the developer accounts, this site. If the app is useful and you want to chip in, buy me a coffee. The app doesn't change either way.
